It was something I found in a gas station store called "cup noodles." I needed only to add hot water to it before it transformed! Very interesting. Strong flavor, too! :D
[ she would have explained that she used :D this time to symbolize her eating the noodles but now she knows not to!! ]
[ only if he lets her rock his with ye olde cooking!! ]
Perhaps, but I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the more... modern culinary inventions I've been encountering here. It's been eye-opening! Such long shelf lives!
If ever there's an opportunity for us to do so, shall we cook for one another?
Oh? That's wonderful, Mr. Makoto! Are you still staying in one of the motels or hotels, or have you found somewhere more.. permanent?
[ She's been wondering about this... she may have lived in an inn for a lot of her life, but it was still a lot homier than any of the motels she's been in, here! ]
[ Yes but he has a kitchen!! Or at least a kitchenette, but that's more than she can say for her own current arrangements... ]
Still, if you're able to prepare a meal for yourself, then I would consider that better-equipped than my current accommodations. Perhaps I really ought to move around more...
[ Out of most everyone she's met here, she'd sort of began to think of herself and Edamura as kindred spirits. Neither of them seem particularly strong or adventurous, but it seems that perhaps he's got more of the spirit than she does... to have embraced the more nomadic life that fluxdrifts tend to have.
...Perhaps she ought to give it more of a chance...? But then again... driving... ]
I'm very glad to hear that you've taken to this lifestyle. Admittedly, I'm still a bit reluctant... Though I feel a bit encouraged now, because of you.
I suppose it's all I've ever known. Even the idea of traveling between one's lodgings and place of work is an adjustment, for me. I lived where I worked, and I worked where I lived. It's why I've taken to working at the motels, when I can...
[ But what about her work-life balance?? Don't worry about it. ]

[HELP]
You don't have to explain why you used it. I already understand.
[he is so. . . freakin' endeared. . .]
What'd you have to eat?

Yeah! I've had cup noodles before. They're pretty good in a pinch, if kind of plain.
But I've learned how to make them a little fancier, if you ever want to give one of my recipes a try.
[elevating instant noodles was one of the first ways he learned how to cook. . .]

I'm intrigued! :O
I always like to learn new recipes. I didn't know you were a cook, Mr. Makoto.

I don't know if I'd call myself a cook, but I AM pretty good in the kitchen. Self-taught, though.
[why does he clarify as if being "self-taught" means his skills aren't quite up to par. . .]
As an innkeeper, I bet cooking is second nature to you.

You say that like we couldn't just create an opportunity for ourselves.
The place I'm staying at now has a kitchen.

Just a hotel. It's a little run down, but it's better than nothing.
[better than crashing in the front seat of his car every night, at least]

I don't know if I'd say that you SHOULD, but the nomad life is really working out for me.
[it satisfies the part of him that recently discovered he likes to travel]
And if you stumble across a place that you really like, there's nothing stopping you from staying there for longer than a night or two.

It's not for everyone. I mean, having steady housing is comforting, isn't it?
[she doesn't have to stress about where she'll be sleeping from night to night. nor does she have to compress her entire life into one tiny backpack!]
I was doing a lot of traveling before I got dragged here, so. . . I guess I've grown accustomed to it.

So you're an adventurer, too, Mr. Makoto?
